Whose Couch is it Anyway?!

This chapter is designed to take the reader through the often-confusing myriad of psychological therapies available. Working on the basis that the more knowledge the better the outcome.

Summary

It is my experience that the most effective treatment of depression is a combination of a psychologically-based therapy and anti-depressants.

It is vital that you have confidence in the therapist, if you don't, find another one. You wouldn't buy a piece of clothing that didn't fit – why pay for a therapist that doesn't fit your requirements?

The reader is provided with a list of “Things to Look Out For” outlining where some of the pitfalls can occur with finding the right therapist and type of therapy. They are educated on when to seek a second opinion.
